Hannah Koeske
Hannah’s work deals with themes of spirituality, social relationships, connectedness, family, metabolising events, the humour and confusion in ambiguity, and the concept of a ‘fallen nature.’ She works a lot in portraiture and depicting the figure. The persons who people her paintings are often family members, friends, and/or acquaintances. Currently, she has been working in a lot of pastel, bright and discordant colours, and markers, though her 'home' is oil paint and the idea of a value structure and the way light and dark hit the back of the eye (perhaps more primitively) is important to her. She has lived in Boston, Seattle, and Spokane. She draws from her experiences in urban environments and traveling while painting. She has a BFA from the University of Washington.
