EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION:
For the month of November the members at Saranac Art Project have opened the gallery to The Root Experience Collective. The Root Experience Collective is a multigenerational, multicultural and multidisciplinary endeavor. The month-long exhibition, culminated in a three day festival that celebrates the rich tapestry of BIPOC cultures through film, music, art and storytelling. Their aim is to elevate Spokane and the Pacific Northwest’s creative voices onto the world stage providing access to the professional opportunities and amplifying narratives of resilience, growth and culture with individual identity.
“Recognizing the historical impact of colonization, we strive to decolonize art and social practice. The Root Experience seeks to bridge the divides created by artificial borders, connecting Indigenous communities across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We envision a future where artists are empowered, stories are shared and healing can begin.”
We are proud to exhibit the artists who were chosen through a juried call for art including: Shantell Jackson, Whitney Evans, Adeline Copenspire, Sonny and Lisa Moeckel, Helen Goodteacher, Joeseph Arnoux, Lotus the Vibe, Olivia Evans, Diane Covington, Azadeh Weber, Matthew Platero, Janae Frazier, AJ the Wordsmith
