Mary Farrell

Mary Farrell’s work has been exhibited in shows both nationally and internationally, including China, Italy, India, Bulgaria, the UK, South Korea, New Zealand, Finland, Mexico, Spain, and the Ukraine. Her work is part of private and public collections including the Portland Art Museum, the City of Seattle Art Collection, The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane, The China National Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou China, and many corporate collections. Her work has been supported and recognized by various awards, honors and scholarships. She was awarded an Artist Trust Fellowship Grant from Washington state in 2000 and two Artist Trust GAP Grants in 1997 and 2000. She was awarded the Scholar of the Year Award at Gonzaga University in 2001 and, through 2019, she was the Kreielsheimer Professor of Art in the art department. In 2008 she was invited as a visiting professor to teach and exhibit work at the Hubei Academy of Art printmaking department in Wuhan China. In 2012 she returned to China to teach, show work and collaborate on woodcut prints with Zhang Guanghui, chair of the Hubei Academy printmaking program. Since retiring from Gonzaga University in 2020, after running their printmaking program for 25 years, she has been enjoying extra time and focus to develop and show new work.
